Women Photojournalist

A)  Portrait Credit: Chris McGrath  The female photojournalist I chose to discuss on this topic is Nicole Tung. She was born in Hong Kong, in 1986. Tung graduated from New York Univ ersity. Tung is also known mostly for her work in the Middle East and Asia. What grabbed my attention about Tung is a video in which she talks about the different types of triumphs and issues that females in the photojournalist industry encounter daily. I n this video, Tung explains how women are always considered the weaker link, especially in subjects like war and photography. She also speaks about the sexual harassment that women go through and how some have a hard time speaking about it. I Photos by: Shakira Martin 20 OCT 2024 I chose to talk about Palestine and Israeli war because it is not talked about enough, I wanted to shine a light on the struggles that photojournalists go through because many times a lot of us take photojournalism for granted. These photojournalists are risking their lives every day to shine a light on the issues that are going on in Gaza. For me, this is extremely important because before doing this project I wanted to talk about photojournalists in the military but it wasn't until I researched more that I realized how important all photojournalists are and the major issues they face. I believe photojournalists overall are risking their lives each day and it's so underrated. This project brought light to photojournalism and how it can impact our lives daily it also made me feel that photojournalism as a whole should be talked about more and that photojournalists should have some type of protection.  Links to the images I used and the in...
