    I chose to do a collage of Neil Leifer most impactful images that highlights some of the incredible things he has done in his photojournalism career with sports. Adding on to the collage I wanted to add my own personal feelings about these images and what came to my mind when I did a research therefor I created a poem to express some of those feelings. 


Below is the Poem written in the middle of the collage in case it's hard to read. 

A moment is a fleeting thing,
unless you capture it.
Or we become birds in a cage with no key—
spare me the blasphemy;
why would I let history escape?

From boxing to basketball,
we have it all in the sports world—
boys and girls blossoming into adults.
Let just admire their dedication,
all across the nation,
legends are made.

We have the privilege to observe,
to witness greatness for a lifetime.
At the right moment in time, these photos were taken,
making its place in history.

these images still get to me.
as I reminisce on their historical impact,
their stories frozen in time
forever alive in my memories.

Is Photojournalism Art?

  Photo by: Jacob Riss Year created 1870 Quality of Light:  In this image, I would say the lighting is engaging because as you look at the image you tend to get drawn by the different shades. For example, the background gives more light to the image's purpose which is to highlight the men in the picture and the conditions.  What feelings does the Image create:  As I look at this image I can feel a sense of intimidation. All the men are staring with serious faces and at any moment they can engage. The more you stare at the picture the more that you can learn what the image is representing. The feeling of the image is showing laborious men but it also in a way highlights poverty.  Obvious Main subject, about 1/4 to 2/3 of image area:  I will say that in this image I am not sure that I see one main object. The Ethics of Photojournalism

 A)  Image by Shakira Martin 4 Nov 2024 B) I went online I found one controversies that relate to ethics and photojournalism. The one that I found was about a photojournalist whose Integrity was questioned with an image. This one was important to me because it talks about Integrity and that's one of my biggest Ethics to live by also because integrity is huge in the photojournalism industry.  C) Integrity is the biggest Ethic/Controversy that I chose to talk about. In this Article The Case of Steve McCurry: What Is 'Truth' in Photography?  It talks about a famous photographer that is well known for his photography especially the Afghan Girl. Steve McCurry was caught in a scandal when people found out that some of his images were altered with and he was editing them to portray something different from what he captured. Women Photojournalist

A)  Portrait Credit: Chris McGrath  The female photojournalist I chose to discuss on this topic is Nicole Tung. She was born in Hong Kong, in 1986. Tung graduated from New York Univ ersity. Tung is also known mostly for her work in the Middle East and Asia. What grabbed my attention about Tung is a video in which she talks about the different types of triumphs and issues that females in the photojournalist industry encounter daily. I n this video, Tung explains how women are always considered the weaker link, especially in subjects like war and photography. She also speaks about the sexual harassment that women go through and how some have a hard time speaking about it. In this video, Nicole Tung talks about her career and challenges in photojournalism " The photojournalism industry and publications tend to hire people they worked with for many years which tend to be men or think that for dangerous assignments men are better suited."
